However, away from the markets and street food that have become synonymous with Chinatown, are early Chinese communities that have been part of the society for hundreds of years.
The Talat Noi Community tucked away on the edge of Chinatown is one of the oldest Chinese communities in Bangkok with families that have been trading in Thailand for over 200 years. Much of the traditions and strong community still exist.
On this Chinatown walking tour in Bangkok we explore the Talat Noi community and the stories of the people who live there.
The tour starts near River City Mall (Si Phraya Pier) at 9.00am. Following an introduction by your guide you will set out on a 2km walk. As you walk you will learn about the different groups of Chinese that immigrated to Thailand and how their trades and cultures have varied over the years.
As you walk you will pass by the workshops of local metal workers, the kitchens of local bakers, and a variety of other locals vendors. In addition to many Chinese shrines, you will also pass Bangkok』s first local bank, a Portuguese Church and a Vietnamese temple.
The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hour and will finish about 11:30. The tour finishes at near Odeon Circle / Wat Traimit from where you can continue to explore Wat Traimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha), Chinatown's markets, or we will point you in the direction of public transport (closest station is Hua Lamphong)
